Marian’s Story

When I was a child I used to get migraines, we eventually figured it out to be msg in hotdogs, chips and chinese food. So I eliminated those. Every once in awhile I would get a sneaky one from hidden msgs. I usually vomited once or twice slept it off in a darkroom after a hot shower. I was usually alright by the next day. Then in 2000 I was suffering from a sinus infection, I was given Clavulin. Within the hour I started vomiting with severe pain and continued for 12 hours. A year later another sinus infection a different antibiotic and the same result. So I started to avoid pharmaceuticals. Preferring now to use old natural remedies with food and plants. But, I found out twice, that anesthetics cause terrible CVS, two days of vomiting with a ten hour passed out in the middle. Four days to recover.

The usual onset is a tightening of the abdomen especially around the belly button. Feeling of agitation. I know if I am not at home I better get there within half an hour., Set up the bedroom with a salt light so I can see without bright light. Bath sheet in bed under me. Electric blanket on top set to high. Barf bowl and glasses of warm water. Stack of towels and dry pajamas to bathroom for the numerous hot showers.  Sometimes I have the trots just before the vomiting starts. I usually throw up in the toilet for the first while til it is just liquid wretching.By then I start to go into the sweating and concious coma stage. If even my finger comes out of the blanket one would think it was freezing off. I do not register a fever on the thermometer tho. My arms ache so bad from the dehydration for days sometimes. I wish I could just take them off. I have learned that if you do not drink warm water during the whole time, the wretching will wreck your guts. After 6 hours usually the barfing is at hourly intervals for usually for another 8 hours,if I am lucky.

After the vomiting stops for more than an hour I try taking some warm weak ginger and honey tea. It is like a veil is lifted.

I eventually ease in yogurt and organic crackers. Soups and light meals for a few days.
