aerobic exercise is advisable low impact, lower Intesity for pre op folks
Walk daily even if its around your house 6 times
Ride a bike Outside
Ride a stationary bike
Use an Elliptical
Use a Rowing machine but Limit the intensity Avoid Straining as in bench presses pulling through on a rower even straining in the John try to not get backed up use a helper Senna or Metamucil

Ligh to moderate cardio, jogging, bike riding, swimming.
Avoid contact sport.
