The does appear to be a heredity component to some cases of EGE. However, a genetic link has still not been confirmed. There is limited research on EGE as compared to EoE (Eosinophilic Esophagitis) due to the rarity of the disease. My daughter is the first individual in my family to be diagnosed with an Eosinophilic Disease. We do have multiple members in my family with IBS and Crohn's. I have two children, the youngest has EGE and the oldest has Crohn's. My mother had IBS. My mother, both my children, and myself have GERD.
