My Son Adrian´s HUS

My Son Adrian was diagnosed with HUS last year in November after our vacation in Egypt due to E-Coli (Shigella).

The syptoms startet with light diarrhea (not really bad). The diarrhea was gone but my son seemed to be tired and pale all the time, so we planned to see our pediatrician. On the same the in the morning Adrian´s urine was red like bordeaux wine. We needed to go to the hospital where they told us about severe kidney failure and later that day he was diagnosed with HUS.

In the second night in the hospital he received blood transfusion two more transfusion the next days. He felt much better afterwards.

Luckily he never needed dialysis or more. We could leave the hospital after only one week and were so so lucky.

When I read all the other stories I really realize how much luck we had.

Thanks to Regensburg Children´s Hospital for the great work they do there. They have wonderful people there who are very well informed about this disease.
