If you are reading this and you currently choose rest over exercise, you are not optimizing your overall health. I invite you to read medical studies regarding the benefits of activity and exercise. Not only to improve your bronchiectasis condition but your whole body. Physical activity on a regular basis even strengthens the immune system. And a strong immune system is critical for bronchiectasis patients.
Find an activity, sport, etc. that you enjoy. Then keep doing it. It may even replace doing physio (mucus clearance). I have a wide variety of activities I participate in... biking, walking, volleyball, tennis, cornhole, fishing, and more.
Exertion will not and cannot worsen your condition. And it will not worsen an active infection. Many times there was a need for me to exert during an infection because I'm single. I don't have someone to do all things that need to be done on a daily basis. So I do them even when I'm ill. Letting the mucus just lay there is detrimental to your lungs. That's why it is not advisable to become dormant when an episode comes calling. Being dormant is only good if you are a volcano.
