Not enough data to answer this. Lyme does kill and people do end up dying of lyme but misdiagnosed with diseases such as ALS, Alzheimer, MS etc. So cannot accurately speak to these numbers.
I haven't seen much scientific progress in the area of Lyme disease. Not enough research dollars, medical community is not interested.
Complications are many. Heart, brain, lungs, suicide..
