I don't know that this condition predicates an earlier death, although I have read articles on-line which indicate that people who lose their sense of smell have a higher earlier death expectation. It did not indicate on what this was based.
Your life can be endangered with this condition because you cannot smell dangerous conditions such as smoke, or gas leaks, nor be aware if food has spoiled, so you have a higher risk of food poisoning.
