Relationships are sometimes very hard with PKU in that the irritability that you experience a lot is hard to control. There are mood swings and it takes a very special person to be partner to a PKU person. The partner needs to have a lot of patience in a clear understanding of the fact that the one with the disorder does not have control all the time over there emotions. It can cause anxiety can cause irrational fear sometimes it can cause depression and it can cause a ton of irritability
