Somewhat. There is a genetic component but for some just the family genetic tendency towards autoimmunity is necessary. Like in my family I am the only person with Hashimoto's but I have gentic family members with Graves, Crohn's, Ulcerative Colitis, and Type 1 Diabetes. So yes genetics play a role but just having a close family member with Hashimoto's does not mean you will get it as well.
