Story about Retinitis pigmentosa .

A glass of water

Mar 3, 2016

AUTOSOMAL RECESSIVE RP - GENE PDE6B PATHOGENIC MUTATION HETEROZYGOUS (C.892C>T (P.GIN298*))

I was diagnosed with RP in 2012, aged 32, after my boyfriend at the time insisted I go and get my eyes checked. He once brought me a glass of water during the night and was shocked when he tried to pass it to me that I felt for his arm to "find" the water. I couldn't see a thing! It was dark!

Today I have "night blindness", a considerable build up of the black pigments in my eyes, only 5 degrees of vision with the smallest light of the Goldman field test, but 90% quality of central vision. This surprisingly is "sufficient" to do most things without any visual aid - or at least, I've gotten away with it so far! :)

Live life and make the best of it, I say!

RP = Remain Positive!!
