I have a mild form so i may not be the best person to say but based on my experience of living with narcolepsy you can be happy and live relatively normal life.
I adjust my day around the condition.
Sleep in the day if its possible.
Eat properly.
Get a decent amount of sleep at night.
Take my drugs even with side effects.
Have supportive family who understand if i fall asleep on them or cancel seeing them because i am too tired.
