The first year after diagnosis is often the hardest. The best you can do for yourself is to seek mental health care and peer support, start meds. immediately and adhere to the treatment regimen strenuously. And I mean become the poster child for adherence. I found it helpful to become angry and to channel that anger into a passion for HIV/AIDS education. I am determined to see this virus dead, and I hope you are too.
