I would have thought that Osteomyelitis has been around as long as man has. The difficult thing is to diagnose it. Many must have lost limbs and their lives in the 1st and 2nd world wars battlefields to Osteomyelitis. Even today its still difficult to diagnose with many patients suffering further damage because of late diagnoses.
