Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to understand what it is like for people with HAE. Therefore, would you ever switch treatment? Why or why not? What happens if you lose insurance coverage? Are you still recieving treatment? Was there a time where you had to pay out of pocket for treatment?

Thanks!

I would possibly consider switching treatments if a subcutaneous injection became available as an alternative to an infusion.  However, I'm also pretty loyal to Shire.  They have been very helpful navigating treatment set-up, insurance changes, and co-pay issues.  I am still receiving treatment.  I don't know what would happen if I lost insurance coverage.  I have not had to pay out of pocket for treatment.  Insurance has always covered them and either Shire One Path or PSI have helped cover co-pays.

Hi Debbie,

That's great to hear that you have a positive experience with Shire. I've heard the case managers are good about following up with their assigned cases. How often do they reach out to you? Does it differ in the beginning, when you're first receiving medication to later? Do they let you know about events and conferences taking place? Do you reach out to them before they reach out to you?

Thanks
