A Ankylosing Spondylitis story

Feb 28, 2016

I have not been to a rheumatologist yet, but I do know the bottom four vertebrae in my spine are fused together, and the hospital pronounced me with AS. My hips, knees, lower spine and pelvis hurt constantly, but I am trying to live with the pain until I am able to see a doctor.  My myasthenia gravis causes me to need rest often, however that in turn causes my joints to lock and become stiff. It is a constant battle between the two diseases, and everyday is different. Being so young I am continually looked past by doctors, and it took almost a year to diagnose me with Myasthenia while I was in a severe crisis. I am trying to adjust my life to all the medications, doctors appointments, and relationship changes. I am hopeful that I will be able to continue my college education, and eventually I'd like to write articles or even a book on the struggles of invisible illness. I do quite hate the mass amount of prescription drugs I am prescribed, and I would love to be able to find a natural or even semi natural way of treatment. I would love to find someone close to my age that has Myasthenia or AS , because a majority of support groups for these two invisible illnesses are people older than me. I am hopeful for the future and I wish for anyone on the map to contact me if they want to.
