A Aortic Dissection story

At 46 (January 2011) years of age I suffered a type A/B Aortic Dissection. Until that very moment I was healthy and had never suffered any type of true trama or disease in my life. I spent 11 days in the hospital where I underwent emergency open heart surgery. A type A/B dissection is an Ascending & Descending dissection. The Ascending Dissection was repaired during the surgery. While repairing the Dissection the surgeon also repaired my Aortic valve by replacing my Aorticv valve with a mechanical valve. My descending Dissection is treated through medication. Also I have an aneurysm in my carotid artery that I must have scanned (CT scan) every 6 months wothout fail. If the Aneurysm begins to enlarge I will once again need to go in for surgery to hopefully remove the aneurysm.
