I had pain in my back from a vehicle accident. It was suggested to get ESI’s to lessen the pain, I did get multiple ones over the span of a couple years.
The pain did not subside, so they tried ablation. That did not work, so they decided to to a laminectomy, that didn’t work, so they went back to more ESI’s.
At some point prior to 2015, I don’t exactly when, my dura was punctured during one of the spinal injections.
I was never told, never knew until a few years ago when Dr Tennant saw my MRI’s and pointed out the damage of my tissues due to an undiagnosed spinal leak. Thinking back, I used to get severe headaches where if I moved I would vomit.
I tried everything to help the pain, physical therapy, traction, tens unit, physical therapy, water therapy.
I did everything they said. No help at all.
I finally was sent to a pain clinic since nothing more surgical could be done.
The pain medication was working but they wouldn’t give me enough to continue activity, or life as we call it.
I was on multiple types of opioids, muscle relaxers, tried Lyrica and everything else they recommended. Nothing worked.
I do believe the opioids would have worked if they gave a higher milligram.

I couldn’t take it anymore and looked up Calmare therapy and tried that.
It’s helped tremendously and I am on low doses of opioids.
BUT……So much damage was done inside, I will always be in some type of pain and have to be careful how much I do.
I am thankful for a non invasive treatment, but I need these doctors to be educated.
We are suffering!
