i fell down the stairs at 12 years old and managed to get a hair line fracture on my big toe on my right foot, within a year my entire foot was swollen with no diagnosis other than 'this happens with a broken toe'. I was living on crutches and being judged all the time with no diagnosis until 2012, a few months later at 15 I was admitted to the Evelina children's hospital where they confirmed the diagnosis of crps type 1. I was started in gabapentin 300mg 3 times a day, this medication didn't work for me. I was admitted for a 2 week stay at the Evelina a month later, by this point my entire right side was effected by my crps, I could no longer write, the doctors put me in a wheelchair and a week into the programme said my condition was to severe and that I needed to go to bath. I refused to go to bath due to family issues however my case was getting unbarable and medications were failing, I went to bath in February 2014 for a 3 week stay and it was an extremely difficult experience however the best thing I've ever done!
I've achieved every single goal I've set myself, I'm walking on my own, writing and now even moved out of home and studying a vocal degree in Brighton living independently. This is difficult every single day, my condition is still extremely painful every second of the day and winter is especially difficult, however summer becomes a lot easier and can manage my pain medication free!
My advice to anyone with chronic pain is never ever give up!!
