I first broke my leg and foot in 5 places when I was 19 years old. I had a cast up to my hip for a good part of a year and then the breaks didnt heal so I ended up having open surgery to put in screws and plates and a hinge in my ankle foot. I went on to have trouble off and on for many years until one day I could not use my left foot. I went to a neurologist who sent me to a neuro surgeon and a orthopaedic surgeon. I had my peroneal nerve repaired and a fasciaotomy. This worked for about a year but really did not solve the problem with the pain. I was diagnosed by the neurologist with RSD and many doctors after that agreed to the diagnoses. I had a repeat of the first surgery two years later with no success. A pain specialist did a Phentolmene test on me and gave positive testing for RSD. I have 9 nerve blocks and was stopped when they could not find a vein anymore as the 9 nerve block was done through the bottom of my left foot. I have tried many meds without success and had specialized therapy without any help.
I live in New Brunswick Canada now and used to live in Brampton Ontario Canada.
Doctors in New Brunswick have no clue what CRPS or RSD is and so I am left to deal with this disease on my own.
