I woke up in recovery, I was very anxious and in pain, my husband and mom were nowhere to be seen, the nurse was very nice, she explained that my hysterectomy had gone well, but the surgeon had to burn most of my abdomen to get the endometriosis as it had had wrappd my ovaries around my other organs. My left one was so stuck to the bowel it was damaged and had to be removed.
The nurse told me I had been "having a hard time all morning" and they were doing an epidural, she sat me up on the side of the bed. This wasnt easy as I was split down the middle with 12 inches of staples. Then there were people behind me, i don recall any introductions. The nurse smiled and says 'this will make all of the pain go away.' She had me lean over one of those silver medal instrument carts, which rolled as I felt the needle go in my back. Then instantly I felt the worst pain EVER, a searing, burning, zapping, blistering raging horrible awful pain went down my left leg across the top of my foot into my 2 biggest toes, I kept screaming "What did you do to my foot?!" Then there were people running and scurrying and a bunch of people behind me, they stuck me again and again and the 4th time (best of my recollection) the doctor wiggled the needle around in my back and the nurse was right - it took all of the pain away... I passed out again.
I woke up again as I was being rolled into my room, and my husband was there. I say I have a Charlie Horse and need to stand up!!!
That awful pain they injected me with on 4/9/12 has been ever-present from that day to this, I have CRPS! It has spread, mirrored to my right leg & foot, now it's in my shoulders, arms and hands. I treat with pain mgmt, tried the SCS, but that failed!
My advice - try everything! Don't give up! Cannabis can be your best friend!!! If it's legal in your state get some cookies or brownies. Helps me immensley!
