CRPS Type I in right leg, now progressive

Nov 11, 2017

Year Condition Began: 2002

I developed CRPS type I 16 years ago after tearing the MCL in my right knee- I was hiking. It was in remission for 5 years after my first lumbar sympathetic block but flared after anesthesia for my sinus surgery. It is now progressive and whole body.

In order to try and control my CRPS and subsequent complications I've had 8 lumbar sympathetic blocks, countless epidural steroid injections, 4 selective nerve root blocks, 4 spinal blocks, 3 back surgeries, 2 epidural blood patches and a permanent spinal cord stimulator placed and partial amputation of my toenail.... not to mention the dural tear and salvage repair that happened after my first back surgery.

Over the years, 15+ specialists have tried medications too numerous to count (>25) to control my CRPS. I have tried acupuncture, chiropractic, cranial osteopathy, massage, Rolfing, yoga, Pilates, tai chi, reiki, herbs, homeopathy, prolotherapy and spiritual healing. Over the summer, I was included in an FDA clinical trial for a drug called Neridronate which I am failing and considered non-responsive.
