Story about CRPS Complex Regional Pain Syndrome .

Crazy

Nov 20, 2015

I was at work when I had my accident.  I was rushing to the bathroom.  The morning was so busy and we're were down three people. I was waiting for a phone call and really needed to talk to that person.  In my rush, I fell hitting knee.  My knee let out a cry of pain.  That is about all I remember until the rest of my body hit the floor. I was laying on my stomach with left arm in front and my right arm was down by my side.  I waited to breathe and try to find out if I'm hurt.  My right elbow was extremely painful.  I hated being laid out on the floor while my coworkers came to see "who's" hurt.  Lucky for me my hubby had been waiting on me to go to lunch.  He knew I was waiting on a call.

Ambulance and fire rescue got me off the floor. I was not going to scream but I did say owie, owie, owie every time my elbow was slightly moved.

At the ER we found out that I broke(fractured) both bones in my left forearm at each end, a bone in my left wrist was also fractured.  On my right side my elbow was dislocated, chipped a bone and chip is floating in my elbow joint, and I broke the same bone in my right wrist

My right elbow and wrist were placed in a soft cast.  My other forearm and wrist were not in a cast because he didn't want me to be that bound up.

I was very concerned about my right side because the skin on the palm of my hand peeled.  I but lots of hand cream on my hand, but my hand just kept peeling. It felt like I had bugs inside my cast. Then the bug bites started itching. I didn't want to look so I asked my hubby to look for bugs.  He said all he saw was a scratch.  What I didn't know that the discomfort I felt was the beginning of CRPS.

I was diagnosed about 2 months later.

I tried to work afterwards but I stayed in so much pain and Meds really hurt my concentration.  I did pt 3 times a week but it eventually caused more damage than help. My arms and hands no longer function normally. My right hand will not close or open all the way.  My bones already show signs of decalcification.
