As of 2018, multiple system atrophy is not generally considered to be hereditary although there are some extremely rare cases of families with MSA in Japan. It's important to note that there are a few very rare genetic diseases that can mimic MSA symptoms. The most common of these are the Spinocerebellar Ataxias (SCA). A good diagnostic workup should be done by your neurologist to rule out any common genetic diseases that can look like MSA.
