How did all start?
Well, from what I can remember, not sure if it plays together or not but,I had a really bad cold at the end of 2014. So, I called my doctor and made an appointment. At that appointment I received 2 injections, one of them being for the flu, I can't remember the other. I also had blood drawn which was supposedly normal at the time. I After that appointment I became more ill.By February, I was hospitalized and given the Diagnosis.
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
Yes,I was diagnosed in 2014. Honestly, I don't know long so, I'll say since diagnosed, 3 years.
For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?
I Have seen a Hematologist.
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
Nothing, I refuse Hydroxyurea.
What have been your biggest difficulties?
My biggest difficulty is knowing I have Cancer.
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
I no longer have my family around me as much unfortunately.
What things have you stopped doing?
I no longer have the hobbies I once had or the energy to do them.
What do you think about the future?
Very bleek, but, I'm trying to stay positive for my family.
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
Travel the country with my family.
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
I wasn't meant to be here but, here I am.
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
Never forget who you are.
