Story about Friedreich Ataxia .

Finding Hope

May 11, 2016

By: edgeco54

I am a mother of three children who love me dearly. I am also a grandmother to two grandaughters and one on the way. My children and grandchildren is what keeps me positive and allows me to continue to have faith. My father had Ataxia and as I aged I knew there was a chance I would also have it. At 35 I knew I had it, but it wasnt until about 50 that it affected my life drastically. I moved in with my eldest daughter 2 years ago and the support has allowed me to remain in the home. I am now wheelchair bound, I cannot write, my eyesight is suffering and I have trouble eating/swallowing, but I am not in pain. I can still get in and out of my chair to stay somewhat independant and I stay positive. I am grateful for what I do have and continue to pray for a cure.
