Joseph was born in 2012. At 5 days we got the call about the newborn screen. We switched to soy formula. He showed no symptoms, but then at 9 days he became septic, and ended up with meningitis. He was given 4 different antibiotics until the strain of meningitis was determined. The antibiotics caused nerve damage, resulting in unilateral hearing loss. Today he is doing amazing. He is the most social kid i've ever met. He loves playing soccer, does Tae Kwon Do, and is really good at Fortnite.
It was a rough start, but as many of you know this disorder is not what defines us.
