Numbness in hands and feet.

Marked as solved

I had my illness in January this year and I am making a reasonable recovery, but my hands and feet continue to feel numb.

Is this normal?  I was told that this would take up to two years to sort itself out.

Yes, this was normal for myself.

It is going to take months to return to your normal self, and you may have some residual loss, I did.

Thank you,

Yes, it's normal. I didn't have numbness in my hands, but I did in my feet. Those nerves endings are the farthest from your spine and take the longest time for the myelin to repair.

I had GBS 10 years ago and still have a feeling of pins and needles in my feet, which is worse at night.

Yes, this is normal as these nerves are the last to regenerate. Not unusual for this to last longer than a couple years. For me, it lasted at least 8 years.
