Story about Guillain-Barre Syndrome .

Less-Invasive Case...Still Life Changing

Apr 16, 2016

By: Jessie

I was very healthy and physically active....school, work, sports, mother, wife...then life just stopped. I had a gradual onset (over 7 days) and no vent, no hospital, no paralysis. I was deteriorating one day to the next, ascending neuropathy, fatigue, weakness, pain, stress, bells palsy, and probably 24-48 hours from a vent when I found a Dr. who helped me. I am 3.5 years down the road but am still struggling with depression, anxiety, excessive fatigue, weakness, nerve pain, foot pain, and lack of stamina.  My family has suffered...I hope to find a way to strengthen them again. Support groups have helped me to turn the corner of morale and I am settling into the life journey with eyes wide open to any possibilitiy of relapse, illness...as well as happiness!
