How did all start?
My husband started having muscle pain about a 18 months ago. It was originally believed to be from the statin he was taking which had been doubled in dosage after a TIA. CK level was high; statin stopped but symptoms worsened.
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
It took over a year to finally get a diagnosis of Inclusion Body Myositis.
For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?
Our family doctor, neurology and rheumatology. Our family doctor and his rheumatologist have been the best.
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
Having professionals believe him and help him.
What have been your biggest difficulties?
Losing strength and mobility has made his work harder and take longer.
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
We've realized who my husband's true friends are.
What things have you stopped doing?
Drag racing. We now have a boat.
What do you think about the future?
Taking things one day at a time. Continuing to research.
So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?
Of course, his younger years- marriage, raising our children.
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
Travel more.
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
My husband said his life has been lucky.

Keep active, keep looking for answers, enjoy your life.
