I have been suffering from Mast cell activation disorder for 20 years, but was just diagnosed a year ago. Remembering back I wish that doctors would have been more knowledgeable of Mast cells and the impact they have on the body when they do not function properly. Telling someone they have IBS may only be a part of a much larger picture that can have life threatening results if not treated properly.
Lesson learned for the patient...know your body and when something does not feel right let the doctor know. If there is one thing I have learned and that is to remember that doctors work for me!
