Story about Multiple Chemical Sensitivity .

Battling MCS

Apr 8, 2019

By: Bro

I have been chronically ill my entire life, physicians couldn't explain it. Dietary changes helped but I was still sick. I've suffered from skin lesions, "asthma," migraines, nausea/vomiting, fevers, irritability, body aches and swelling, as well as other symptoms. I visited specialists who prescribed topicals and creams, new body care products, did biopsies, and I still ended up in the hospital. In fact, the medications seemed to make my symptoms worse. I found that removing most medications aided in my recovery but still struggled with things like perfumes, cleaners, deoderants, etc. Pregnancy seemed to amplify my symptoms and make it unbearable. I am currently trying to detox and recover but often cannot identify my triggers because I am so sensitive (sometimes it is simply low levels of pollution in the air). Having a supportive spouse helps but can also be difficult because they do not react the way I do and may bring things assumed to be safe into our home which cause me to become ill. I am looking for a support system, for guidance, and would love to be supportive for others as well.
