Story about Multiple Systems Atrophy .

My 13 Year Struggle With MSA

Feb 10, 2016

By: Ann

I was diagnosed with MSA by my neurologist at the Neurology Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in October, 2003.  I had symptoms in the previous year and maybe earlier.  The diagnosis was confirmed with a tilt table test at the UMass Medical School where I participated in the research trial of Droxidopa.  I later presented my experience with Droxidopa before an FDA panel in February 2012 while standing and in February 2014 from a wheelchair when it was finally approved.  In the following year, 2015, we moved from Massachusetts to Independent Living in Florida where my husband remains as my caregiver.
