Story about Multiple Systems Atrophy .

My brother, Hal

Feb 13, 2016

my brother, Hal, was diagnosed in 2012, but looking back, I can see signs of MSA perhaps in 2005.  He was initially diagnosed with Parkinson's but as I reviewed for my Internal Medicine Board Exam, I realized Hal had something more.  I hardly remembered this disease discussed in medical school and had never seen a case until I recognized this awful disease in my own brother.  Our family struggles with caring for Hal could fill a book along with the graces and kindness of heaven, friends, family and strangers who became friends.  Hal taught us and allowed us to practice Matthew 25 in a profound way!

the MSA Coalition National Meeting is in New Orleans this year.  Our family plans on being part of that meeting to share our experience with MSA and to offer help and hope to other families and caregivers.  God bless you all!
