Sarcoidosis, diagnosed by discarding other conditions

Jan 14, 2017

I felt last year 2016 a lump in my forearm that kept on growing. Biopsy came up as Granulomatosis. Another lump also started growing in my shin. I went for an annual rather comprehensive medical check up and the Dr told me my lungs were invaded so i was sent to a Pulmonary Dr. He did a bronco endoscopy and the biopsy came up negative for cancer or tuberculosis. Dr discarded other conditions and felt highly likely case of Sarcoidosis. He then prescribed prednisolone 50 mgs. After 1 month chest x ray showed good results, lung inflamación had gone down and lumps decreased to half of the size in both forearm and shin. Dr decreased prednisolone to 30 mgs for 1 more month. Next visit to the Dr presented similar progress, lungs kept on clearing and lumps disappeared. Dr further reduced medication to 25 mgs for 1 month and 20 mgs the next month (which I am now starting). My next visit to the Dr is due by mid February 2017. I am really hoping the positive trend continues and can further reduce the medication intake. Grateful to hear from others on this condition and possible causes. I have a very strong feeling that it is triggered by airborned substances.

kind regards
