My grandson was,after many tests, diagnosed with Stargardts disease. What a shock to parents and grandparents! At first we tried to keep him in a mainstream school, bur this did not work out. The school still persisted with the isea that he had to write exams as other kids wouls, even though this was no longer possible for him. (he was in grade 3 and 4 at the time). since then, he moved over to the Worcester school fot kids with vision deficiencies, and he is so happy thre, doing well at school, as well as socially and as far as sports and culture is concerned. He started playing piano, and is doing well.
It justs goes to show, right treatment for the child and the world becomes his or her oyster! These kids and grown-ups can function as any other "normal"person would be able to!
