I was diagnosed in 2011 a few weeks before my college finals. I though I had an abscess tooth and visited my dentist first. He said I didn't have so much as a cavity, and referred me to a macillofacial surgeon who also found nothing. Eventually ended up at my primary care physician and after describing my pain, he diagnosed me with TN and referred me to a neurologist. The neurologist confirmed the doctors diagnosis and began testing to determine a cause. Blood work, CT scans, brain MRI. Nothing. I have idiopathic TN and just deal with the pain as best I can.
