How did all start?
Gradually I began noticing peculiar optical phenomena.
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
It took over a year and seeing a neurologist, ophthalmologist, and finally a neuro-ophthalmologist to get properly diapnosed.
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
Dr. Haines was respectful and listened to all of my concerns. He thoroughly tested my vision and educated me as to his diagnosis, what it meant, how to proceed, and what to expect. He was an excellent educator as well as diagnostician.
What have been your biggest difficulties?
Photophobia and afterimages of light sources.
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
Everyone has been very supportive.
What things have you stopped doing?
I’m driving less at night.
What do you think about the future?
Existing without relying on sight.
So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?
The post cancer diagnosis years have been my best years because I have made positive changes, am living life as fully and in the moment as possible, and trying mot to let limitations bother me.
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
Youth really is wasted on the young! If I could I would be so much more physically active!

Do your best at that moment, that’s all you can do.
