How did all start?

Unknown origin in 1987. Have been asthmatic most of my life.

Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?

ABPA. Not fully diagnosed until about 1995

For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?

Pulmonology

What has been the most useful thing for you so far?

Prednisone and Itraconizole

What have been your biggest difficulties?

Shortness of breath, chronic cough, periodic weakness.

How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?

Very supportive. No change in relationships.

What things have you stopped doing?

Strenuous exercise such as running, using weights, etc. Swimming is helpful.

What do you think about the future?

Not optimistic about a cure.

So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?

From 40s to late 60s. Full workload, ran many marathons, lots of snow skiing, etc.

What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?

Get back to physical activities.

If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?

Fulfilling, but slowed down by ABPA.

Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?

Know your limitations and try to live within them.
