Never Too Late to Change

Apr 7, 2016

I was first diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 2014, however on reflection, I think Hashimoto's began then too. I passed 18 years solely on 100 mcg of thyroxine, being tested regularly each year for thyroid levels.  These tests were never disclosed to me, the patient.  Most days I felt so bad I didn't know how else to feel. Everything was just too difficult.  Over the years, the doctors looked at the raging antibodies on pathology reports and commented "you must be fighting off an infection, dear".

Last year, with a general practitioner who cared and wanted to learn about my condition, I had occasion to try T3 and for the first time and finally after all that time I started to feel better.  $$$ later, Integrative Doctor added her recommendations which were many supplements to help. My good g.p. moved away sadly last August.

I also have helicobacter pylori in the stomach and have had several "treatments" over the years. This is one of the reasons I have chosen to go gluten free.  None of the antibiotic treatments seem to keep the bacteria away for long though.  Have had colonoscopies, gastroscopies regularly.  After being educated in my condition by endless reading and Facebook groups, I sought out a doctor who would prescribe NDT.  Long travel to see her, but I decided I would cross the world for good treatment.

In 2014, my two grown daughters were diagnosed with Hashimoto's so we follow a regime of being gluten, try to do dairy and sugar free.
