Diagnosis of Mastocytosis or Mast cell activation syndrome

Asked 9 years ago Sarah 298

I would like to know how mastocytosis or MCAS is diagnosed. Are there lab tests or any other test to diagnose it? I'm from Europea and I am diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome and irritable bowel syndrome. It would be that I suffer from mastocytosis or MCAS?

Mastocytosis is diagnosed by Tryptase blood test and bone marrow biopsy. If you have brown and pink permanent freckles it' warrants a skin biopsy. The world health organisation has listed criteria how it is diagnosed. What part of Europe are you?  You may contact a mastocytosis society in your country.

I agree with Helen. tryptase levels and bone marrow biopsy is the way to get it diagnosed. could you see an allergy consultant or haematologist to help get a diagnosis/confirmation of mastocytosis?
