Story about Skin Cancer .

Melanoma

Jul 24, 2016

By: Leahlous

I was wrongly diagnosed in 2012 as having a dermatifibroma. Four years later my friend a GP seen it on my lower leg and advised to go straight away for it to be checked. It was 9mm in size they removed it all at my first appointment then I had to have a second 2cm wide local excision to make sure nothing was active. I'm very lucky as my immune system fought it and the Melanoma had regressed, however it is good news for myself but not for doctors as they now can't stage the cancer. 2.5 months in from my first diagnosis of Melanoma, latest check- confirmed enlarged lymph node in my groin.. Awaiting my next check up in a weeks time. Currently on a 5 year check up every 3 months should hopefully keep things at bay.
